This two-storey apartment is located in a former, 19th-century farm building of the Fattoria di Canneto (municipality of Prato) which also includes the ancient manor house Villa Rucellai.
Once it was a so-called "Appassitoio" (dry house), used for drying cereals or grapes which was later transformed into the Tuscan Liquor wine Vinsanto
The landlord is a descendant of the Rucellai family, one of the most important and wealthy families in the city of Florence since the 14th century. The villa, which dates back to different periods of construction and is now in the most beautiful Renaissance style with a Mediterranean ornamental garden, fountains and vegetable gardens. Today it houses a B&B guesthouse, where also the holidaymakers of the Appassitoio apartment can take breakfast (after prior order).
In the garden area between the apartment and the villa is a pool (15 x 5 m) which provides in the summer for the necessary refreshment and which is available to all holiday guests.
Below the villa there is the "Frantoio" (oil mill) where every autumn an excellent, several times awarded olive oil "Extra Vergine" is produced.
The farm is located on a hill above Prato, at the Apennine foothills of Calvana. It is an ideal starting point for excursions to the many famous Tuscan cities (Florence about 22 km, Arezzo about 100 km, Siena about 90 km, Pistoia about 20 km, Lucca about 60 km, Pisa approx 78 km, Montecatini Thermal Baths about 35 km) and the renowned beaches of the Versilia coast (Viareggio about 80 km, Forte dei Marmi about 90 km, Torre del Lago Puccini about 80 km).
For shopping it is about 4 km. The nearest restaurant is about 2 km away.
You can reach the front door from the courtyard of the ancient villa, ground floor: small entrance with a guest bathroom, a large kitchen with dining table and fireplace corner, a bedroom with two single beds. Opposite the front entrance door a stone staircase leads up to the first floor: a living room with sofa bed, a narrow hallway leads to the sleeping area, two bedrooms, both with two single beds, two bathrooms with shower/WC which can be reached from the hallway. Anyone who loves a dreamy, romantic ambience, is just right here between the historic walls. In the immediate vicinity you can make wonderful walks or mountain bike trips. Guests can also stay on the loggia and in the park of the villa.
The pool consists of a brick basin. The interior of the apartment is a bit older.
