The name of this large restored country house indicates its location. The word poggino means "small hill" and so this villa is located on the top of a hill, surrounded by fields and olive groves in the municipality Buonconvento in the district of Siena. The breathtaking all-round panorama contributes to the fact that you leaves everyday worries and big city hectic immediately behind. With this view - which extends into the "Creti Senesi", you can understand why so many people fall in love with Tuscany. In the garden there is a beautiful pool (16 x 8 m).
The gravel path that passes beneath the villa is part of the route of the well-known vintage cycle race EROICA, which takes place every 1st Sunday in October and can only be used with bicycles made before 1987. These routes are very popular with cyclists in every season and the villa is the ideal starting point to explore the most beautiful areas of the Sienese hinterland in the footsteps of the heroic vintage cyclists.
Near the villa there is a riding stable, with which the landlady works together, where horseback riding is organized and riding lessons are also offered for beginners.
Il Poggino is the ideal starting point to visit such famous places as Siena, Buonconvento, Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and Lake Trasimeno, Monte Amiata or the Maremma coast (the latter can be reached in about 90 minutes by car).
Built with terracotta bricks typical of the area, with its beautiful covered veranda and large sun terrace, it has a variety of uses due to its unusual interior design and is suitable both for friendly families and groups (for example, accommodation for courses or seminars). The pool is open from April to October, weather permitting.
On one of the neighboring farms there is the possibility to take riding lessons or to take part in excursions on horseback through the beautiful landscape.

This villa is exactly what you would expect from a "dream house in Tuscany". The beautiful panoramic view is the best medicine against everyday stress and big city hectic. The very nice landlady takes reservations of riding lessons or riding outdoors on horseback. The house is very popular with cyclists who want to explore the famous tracks of the EROICA vintage cycle race.

The last section of the access road (about 500 m) is a bit dusty in summer.
