The name Castellammare del Golfo already contains two important statements about the town in the name: "Castellammare" indicates that there is a fortress directly at the sea. Their origin goes back to the time of the Arab conquest. It was first destroyed by Frederick II of Sicily at the beginning of the 14th century and then rebuilt. "Del Golfo" describes the location of the village, as it borders a bay. This was very important as a port for Segesta and Erice in the Elymer times.
The old town center with its narrow, winding streets and countless stairs invites you to new discovery tours on foot. In the upper new district - very close to the schools - there is a Bar-Pasticceria (café-bar with attached pastry shop) run by a young, friendly team, which serves the best and freshest Cannoli Sicliani (crispy, filled with ricotta) of the city.
In general, the physical well-being and all the delicacies associated with it are part of the life of the extremely hospitable Sicilians. In the small marina (habour) there are several excellent fish restaurants, where you can also get an excellent cous cous (a remnant of the Arab culture that has left its mark on the island).
The two small museums in the city are also worth a visit. There you can learn a lot about the old traditions and the past of the town and its surroundings.
For swimming you can either go to the small city beach, which is surrounded by a high fortress wall, or drive to the long sandy beaches on the northern outskirts of the city.
This private apartment is located in the historic center, just a few steps from the city beach and is on the second floor of a renovated building. It consists of a kitchen, a double bedroom, a small bedroom with bunk beds and a bathroom with shower and toilet. The apartment has two beautiful, large terraces. One is on the front of the house. From here you can see a beautiful section of the turquoise sea between the roofs. The other terrace is on the backside of the house, between the roofs of the neighboring buildings. In the early morning, the smell of freshly baked bread blows to the second floor, as there is a small bakery in the immediate vicinity.

If you want to spend a vacation in complete peace, you should not choose this apartment in the old town of Castellammare del Golfo. There is a school right next door (the caretaker waves to the terrace every morning when opening the shutters - the school is closed from mid-June to mid-September) and there is a restaurant on the ground floor, which of course also has its tables in summer on the piazza in front of the house. As is common in southern countries, the streets and squares are lively in the summer until late in the evening. This means that shouting, laughing, playing ball and driving a moped are part of the normal background noise / in the old town center there are only paid parking spaces, i.e. that you have to accept a few minutes walk to the apartment if you prefer a free parking lot and don't want to risk a penalty.

Schnelle Reaktion auf Fragen per Mail und Telefon auch zu späten Zeiten beim Toscana Team, was immer möglich war, haben die Auswahl erleichtert. Der Urlaubsort Spitze... Die Unterkunft - Wohnung perfekt. Strandnähe und alles so wie man sich einen Urlaub in Italien erträumt. Die kleinen Läden und Geschäfte schnell zu erreichen und zum erholen mit Baden und Schnorcheln genau das Richtige. Hab noch nie soviele Bücher im Urlaub geschafft zu lesen. Es aber auch genossen selbst gefangenen Fisch oder frischen Fisch vom Fischer im Hafen zuzubereiten und zu geniessen. Wenn man einen Koch vom Fischrestaurant Fragen um die Zubereitung stellt, man bekommt immer bereitwillig Auskunft. Ich glaub, wir waren hier schnell heimisch und können von der getankten Sonne hier zu Hause noch lange zehren. Besten Dank und weiter so.

Hallo, liebe Frau Gramatke, wir beneiden Sie! Sie sind, wie wir wissen, noch eine Woche in Sizilien, während wir seit gestern abend schon wieder in Deutschland frieren müssen. Wir haben eine tolle Woche in Sizilien verbracht. Die Wohnung Le Terrazze in Castellammare del Golfo war perfekt; gerade die beiden Terassen haben wir sehr genossen. Morgens schon draußen frühstücken und abends noch bis kurz vor Mitternacht ein Glas Rotwein genießen; echt super. Der Vermieter war, wie von Ihnen schon angekündigt, äußerst nett und hilfsbereit. Die Woche war sehr gut ausgefüllt mit diversen Ausflügen in der näheren Umgebung (Palermo, Monreale, Segesta, Wanderungen mit Schnorcheln in den Buchten mit glasklarem Wasser des Naturschutzgebietes Zingaro, Erice, Trapani). Besonders gut gefallen hat uns auch San Vito Lo Capo, der Strand dort ist wirklich herrlich. Während wir den Strand genossen haben, hat unsere Tochter dort an 3 Tagen insgesamt 5 Tauchgänge unternommen. Sie war sehr begeistert von dem klaren Wasser und der "Unterwelt" und der sehr kundenorientierten Tauchschule "Under Hundred".Sie hat mehrere hundert tolle Unterwasserbilder gemacht. Nur auf die Waage stelle ich mich besser in den nächsten Wochen nicht, da ich dem tollen Essen in den Restaurants "erlegen" war. Kurzum, ein wirklich toller und erholsamer Urlaub; wir werden sicher in den nächsten Jahren erneut nach Sizilien reisen und mit Sicherheit dann auch wieder über Toscana SI buchen; weil man sich bei Ihnen einfach sehr gut beraten und umsorgt fühlt. Mitte bis Ende Juli haben wir zwei wunderschöne Wochen in der Ferienwohnung La Terrazze verbracht. Es war unser erster Aufenthalt auf Sizilien. Besonders angetan sind wir von den beiden wunderschönen Terrassen: hier haben wir alle unsere Mahlzeiten eingenommen. Immer war es herrlich warm. Und mit Blick auf die Piazza Europa gab es immer etwas zu sehen. Das Geplauder auf der Piazza am Abend hat uns wenig gestört. Gelegentlich wurden wir von Musik unterhalten, die aus dem nahe gelegenen Restaurant leise zu uns drang. Wir haben Abends unsere “Runde gedreht” : Bella Figura in der Altstadt. Für den täglichen Bedarf gab es Alles in unmittelbarer Nähe. Der Obst-u. Gemüsehändler hatte riesige Melonen und tolle vollreife Tomaten in verschiedenen Sorten. Aber auch andere Köstlichkeiten. Beim Bäcker konnten wir uns für Frühstück und Abendessen eindecken. Aber auch die Kaffeetafel kam nicht zu kurz – herrliche Casatella, Arancine und Pasta de Mandorla. Zwischendurch haben wir uns am – nur 5 Autominuten entfernten – Strand von Castellamare erholt. Wir haben uns im gesamten Westen von Sizilien umgesehen – besonders gut hat uns die Salzgewinnung bei Trapani / Mozia gefallen –. Ganz bestimmt waren wir nicht das letzte Mal dort.
