Castellammare del Golfo is a small ancient coastal town that has preserved the characteristic charm of a fishing village. Already the name "Castellammare" indicates that there is a fortress directly at the sea. Its origin dates back to the time of the Arab conquest. "Del Golfo" means that the town nestles against a bay. The ancient roots and the geographical location make it a popular, but not yet overrun holiday destination in the province of Trapani. The old town with its winding alleyways and many stairs is best explored on foot. Here there are still authentic "botteghe", old-established small shops, where all kinds of goods are offered: Fruits and vegetables, food, shoes, household goods, tools, souvenirs and much more.
At the harbor promenade, where the colorful fishing boats lay, you can not only buy the fresh fish, but also sit in one of the cozy restaurants to savor the excellent Sicilian cuisine.
By the way, the Arab influence can also be discovered in many typical dishes. Cous cous can be found on every menu and often chickpeas, raisins and pine nuts are among the classic ingredients of many regional dishes.
The location is ideal for excursions to Erice, Segesta, Monreale, Trapani, San Vito lo Capo, Scopello and the nature reserve Parco dello Zingaro. In the summer you can enjoy the sun on the little town beach, which is surrounded by a high fortress wall, or you go by car to the long sandy beaches on the northern outskirts.
In the cooler seasons you can relax in the nearby thermal baths Terme Segestane in the 38°C warm water.
If you like to get to know the country and the people, you will enjoy your holiday in this small town. The Castellammaresi are very hospitable and always gladly to pass insider tips and life-signs to the visitors of their city.
This private apartment has been completely restored in 2012. It is located on the first floor of an ancient "Palazzo" on the pedestrian zone of the old town. You reach to the apartment from the staircase and enter into a small hallway. To the left you find the bathroom with shower/WC, straight on to the spacious living room (without door in between). A wooden stair bring you up to the sleeping area with a double bed, which was furnished on a gallery (roof slope). Behind the kitchen corner in the living room you reach to the small bedroom with two single beds. In the living room there is also a nice balcony with table and chairs. From the left side you can see a part of the little harbor bay.
This private apartment has been completely restored in 2014. It is also on the 1st floor, right next to the apartment La Marina. You enter from the staircase and reach to a corridor, from which you straight to the bedroom with 2 single beds. On the left there is the bathroom with shower/WC and opposite to it you enter into the double bedroom. The corridor opens into the ktichen and a nice covered balcony with table and chairs.

Final cleaning, first set bed linen and towels are included, additional change of linen € 10 per person. The use of the air conditioning is included. Deposit € 150.
Note: Every Italian municipal administration can introduce a tourist tax. Because this additional levy can be introduced from one day to the next, and varies from place to place, Toscana Sì cannot he give definite information about it.
The owner family is extremely nice and hospitable / convenient location on the pedestrian zone / bakers, butchers, fruit and vegetables, as well as coffee bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance.
The bathroom window of the apartment La Marina opens to the staircase (we have found this several times in Sicily) / the gallery with the sleeping area above the kitchen is quite low on some points / one of the bedrooms in the apartment Gli Archi do not have a window / especially in the summer, until the night noises of laughing, chattering and good-humored people can be heart / the house is situated on the new pedestrian zone / in the historic centre there is no free parking area, but is you walk few minutes you will find some gratis parking places.
Wir hatten Ihre Homepage empfohlen bekommmen und daraufhin spontan beschlossen, diesen Oktober nach Sizilien zu reisen- und wir sind insgesamt äußerst positiv überrascht worden! Die Anreise war mühsam, da wir erst nachts gegen 2 Uhr in Castellamare ankamen- aber dafür sind wir von unserem Vermieter durch einen äußerst warmherzigen Empfang zu wahrlich später Stunde entschädigt worden. Die Wohnung ist wirklich schön und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet(auch wenn uns an manchen Abenden ein bequemer Sessel oder ein Sofa gefehlt hat), und die Lage zentral aber dennoch ruhig, da die Zimmer alle nach hinten raus gingen. Das Wetter und die Strände der Umgebung waren perfekt zum Schwimmen, aber auch für Ausflüge in die interessante Umgebung war unser Urlaub ausgezeichnet geeignet. Wir würden unsere Unterkunft jederzeit weiterempfehlen, würden aber bei unserem nächsten Aufenthalt eher den Osten der Insel bereisen, um auch diesen Teil zu erkunden. Für Ausflüge zum Ätna beispielsweise ist die Insel dann einfach zu weitläufig... Herzlichen Dank Familie Lohschelder
