When you first come to Querceto near Ponteginori, in the municipality of Montecatini Val di Cecina, you either wonder if you are on a time travel instead of a holiday, or accidentally landed in a setting for a sword movie. The tiny, antique village is not spoiled by the usual new housing estates on the outskirts. One is almost tempted to ask for a costume rental in order to dress up to the fashion of the Middle Ages in a contemporary way.
The owner family of this small hamlet, nestled with its narrow streets around the castle with its imposing tower, can look back on a centuries-old history. The name Ginori became world-famous through its ceramics and porcelain manufactory, whose exceptionally beautiful crockery has adorned many a festive table in the dining rooms of famous aristocratic houses over the centuries.
For some years, the descendants of this well-known Florentine family dedicated to wine growing. The superb red "Castello Ginori" matures under the vaulted ceiling of the old Querceto theater in barrique barrels and, on request, a guided tour of the cellar and subsequent tasting can be arranged for smaller groups.

The few inhabitants of the village (the number varies between 30 and 40 people) take the holiday guest with great cordiality in their midst, so that the vacationer quickly feels at home. In the small bar / trattoria "La Locanda del Sole" you can enjoy an Italian breakfast (consisting of a cornetto and a cappuccino) in the morning and Tuscan delicacies for lunch and dinner, which of course also serves as a meeting place for an espresso with your holiday neighbors or to chat to the locals.
After a short walk behind the old city wall you reach the community garden where the pool (18 x 8 m) is located. From here you have a magnificent view of the valley and can enjoy the day after a refreshing bath with heavenly peace. In the center of the small hamlet there is a shared terrace with tables, chairs, umbrellas and W-Lan, which is available to all holidaymakers.
Querceto is also an ideal starting point for excursions to Volterra (25 km), San Gimignano (53 km), Siena (75 km), Pisa (78 km), Lucca (106 km) and Florence (105 km).
For shopping you either drive to Ponteginori (about 6.6 km) or to Cecina (about 22 km). The nearest beach can be found in Marina di Bibbona (about 22 km) or in Cecina Mare (about 25 km). The holiday accommodations of different sizes are all - with one exception - located in different houses of the medieval village. The exception is a single house Podere La Fontaccia, which lies outside the city walls and to which a private garden belongs.

Sie wußten natürlich was Sie sagten ;-).
